A stone gazebo imposes significant static dead load—typically between 6 to 25 metric tons depending on the diameter (e.g., 8-foot private gazebo vs 18-foot grand community pavilion). Installation requires a reinforced concrete (RCC) raft slab of 6 to 9 inches thickness, cast with grade M25 concrete, and reinforced with a double grid of 10mm or 12mm TMT steel bars. At Shree Ram & Company, our Jaipur architectural team provides structural foundation load drawings and column anchor-bolt schematics prior to manufacturing.
Stone gazebos are erected using traditional mortise-and-tenon compression joints augmented with modern stainless steel dowel pins. The base plinth is leveled first with high-strength non-shrink grout. Each monolithic pillar is pinned vertically into the foundation slab via central 25mm SS rods. Heavy carved architrave beams bridge the columns, after which the corbelled stone dome rings are set concentric layer by layer until the self-locking keystone and kalash finial are lowered into place.
Natural Rajasthan sandstone gazebos are virtually impervious to harsh environmental factors. Unlike wood (which rots, warps, and suffers termite damage) or metal (which rusts and overheats in the summer sun), natural sandstone is fireproof, termite-immune, and acts as a natural thermal buffer that keeps interior seating comfortably cool. Due to its massive dead load and aerodynamic dome profile, a properly anchored stone gazebo can withstand hurricane-force wind gusts exceeding 160 km/h.
A custom handcrafted stone gazebo typically costs between Rs 3,50,000 to Rs 18,00,000+ depending on overall diameter (8ft, 12ft, 16ft+), number of pillars (4, 6, 8, or 12 columns), and the density of ornamental 3D relief carving across pillars, arches, and dome ceilings. Production takes approximately 4 to 8 weeks in our Jaipur atelier, including complete factory dry-fitting. We coordinate crating, transport, and on-site master artisan erection across India.
